Since May 2004, when Poland joined the EU, Poles have become increasingly visible in all aspects of life in Britain.
Between May 2004 and June 2007, 683,000 East Europeans registered to work in the UK, of whom 430,400 were Polish. The Home Office issues quarterly reports on the numbers of migrants from the new EU countries, including detailed demographics.
